There is an interesting story behind this tree and the horse like figures you see below it. I recently visited a tribal village, in the remote part of my state ,where I came across this tree and its significance. There is a belief among the tribal people of the region ,that, whatever they wish for, is granted to them if they pray to the tree. Once their wish is granted, they come back here, and put a terracotta horse below the tree. Sometimes they also put a religious flag on the branch of the tree. This is done after some religious ceremony is performed. When I visited the place, there were around 40,000 terracotta horses below the tree!!!

Thank you for the story and the photo. I like the old ways. Good to respect old ritual and thoughts.
Thanks! India is full of such stories, rituals, myths and beliefs.
One wonders was it the tree or their belief that made the wish come true? None the less, to have a focus is most important …
I believe people from Europe too have visited it ,in hope. I heard a story of a cancer patient from England, who was cured within a day!! For a skeptic like me ,all this is little difficult to believe. I think it is a question of faith.

Very well said !
Fascinating!
It was. If you remember, I uploaded an Indian landscape few days ago. This tree was in the same area. Everything was surreal for me.
What a wonderful monument to our hopes and prayers. Faith indeed.
Thank you!
